Vaccine approved for children age 12 and over

Image
Until now, children under the age of 16 could not get any of the three vaccines authorized in the USA. However, last Monday the FDA approved the administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech   Vaccine to children between the age of 12 and 15.   What you need to know:  This decision comes after a clinical trial data showed that the Pzifer Covid-19 Vaccine was 100 percent effective in preventing the illness in children on that age gap. For now the Vaccine appears to be generally safe and with minimal side effects as sore arm or low fever.  The approval of the Pfizer Vaccine to children comes as great news because even though  teenagers are not a  group  particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus, they can still become infested and trasmit the virus to others. When we vaccinate them we are not just protecting our youth but also their parents and grandparents.    Once enough young people are protected from the effects of the Covid-19, schools are more likely to reopen normally next year, bringin

COVID-19 Vaccine and Sick Leave Time

Image
Here at Brockton Workers Alliance we encourage all Brockton employers to do the right thing by motivating their workers to get the COVID-19 Vaccine. The mass vaccination process, which will help improve the current public health situation, is now just as important as it was weeks ago and that is why currently everyone over 16 years old is available to get the shot. Workers of Brockton, as for the state gidelines referenced at the end of the post, absence to work due to COVID-19 or to the vaccine is a justifiable reason to ask for sick leave. That means that if your appointment falls on your working hours, or if you present some adverse reaction to the injection, you can ask your employer for an earned sick leave. In order to get to a normal state of affairs as soon as possible, we encourage all employers to make it as easy as possible for their employees to get their vaccine doses. The most direct way would be to provide them with a payed sick leave for them to get their vaccin

Brockton Workers Alliance's leaders go canvassing

Brockton Workers Alliance's volunteers, jointly with the  Health Care for All , are going door-to-door in the city of Brockton to make sure everyone is protected. Our four volunteers (who can be found at supermarkets, food distribution points and churches) are reaching out and educating the community in as many languages as possible. That is in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese.   Some of our volunteers that went canvassing this last week In addition to providing the community members with all the relevant information about the COVID-19 Vaccine, our leaders are registering people to get appointments and distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among the neighbors.  Our leaders are tirelessly working on the ground to keep the community safe and protected. We want to raise awareness that  NO MATTER WHAT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES ARE, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO GET A VACCINE.  Independently of the fact that you are new in this country, don't speak English or don't have
