THE TRUST ACT

 

BWA has actively been working towards implementing the Trust Act in Brockton, an ordinance that protects immigrant workers by stating that local Brockton police will not detain immigrants on behalf of federal immigration authorities, unless a criminal warrant has been issued against the immigrant(s). If the Trust Act were to be passed by Brockton’s local government, Brockton would be considered a “sanctuary city,” where immigrant workers can live and work without the fear of detainment by federal authorities.
